Um, wrong category! This question should be in the car section!
woow air bags they wrok it saved my life if it werent for the air bag i would be dead today
just be cautous with them dont let kids sit nit eh front unless they are around 5.5′ and if your able to turn off the passengers air bag side if you have that option when there is a kid in teh front but they work unless your old and are short and very pettit but otehr wise they wrok they saved my life i recomend it! anyways the way they work is there are sensors in the front of the car. Most cars require a 35MPH impact to activate the sensors. When the sensor is activated an electrical charge is sent to the air bag, which in turn starts a chemical reaction in the air bag and it inflates. The whole process takes about 1/2 of a second to complete. The "air" in the air bag is a gas caused by the chemical reaction. It’s not like compressed air, it’s much faster. The gas is hot and will cause burns to your skin if it is exposed to it. This happens to the hands and forearms of most people, because the vents that let the airbag deflate are located on the underside of the bag where your hands would be gripping the steering wheel. hope i helped!
